mine does something similiar, it comes on at a steady speed and goes off when i accel or decel, its a smog thing of of your sensors is plugged on it. i smashed my throttle good for about 2-3 miles just floored and it stopped coming on, lol so im sure i cleaned out whatever was stuck in it, lol. our trucks computer only works with the smog on it, it controls nothing else.. so its the only thing it could be.

The check engine light is programmed to come on when one of your pollution control devices needs servicing, usually the EGR valve on the side of your carb.If u have checked oil and it is ok, u have several it,unplug the bulb(not recommended) or get the EGR valve cleaned, which u can do yourself if so inclined.OR I or several other guys around here probably have a clean one laying around we will send u.Let us know.BJ

The check engine light (called the Malfunction Indicator Light) also comes on at specified intervals like 60K, 80K, 120K, and 160K miles (hopefully so you'll take it to dealer to get it re-set, and they can try to sell you service and timing belts, etc.). If that's the reason, two wires under the dashboard, extreme driver's side must be swapped, then swapped back the next time this happens.

cusser is exactly correct. If you crawl under the drivers side of the dash board you will see a connected harness and another identical version of one side. Unplug the connected harness and replace the match w/ the unused.
