altrnator questions

what is better rewinding stock alt. or the gm 1 wire or rewinding gm 1wire?? also whats the most u can get out of rewinding a stock 22-- alt and a gm1wire? and also how would u get a gm to start charging earlier then 2000rpms?

stock --> 55amps
gm --> 105 amps
charge sooner, smaller pulley, or an axternal regulator

yea highest output (actual output) on stock alt. is a whopping 72 amps, and you need to incorporate a fan on the pulley eotherwise it will fry it.

is it okay to rewind a gm? or will i have tomake a fan thingy also and whats the output amps if i was to rewnd it? which is better a smaller pulley or a regulator (and where can u get them?)

you can rewind them up to 182amps (actual output) without adding anything, the regulator is safer, any auto parts store

howcome on ebay alot are different amps. and should i get one with an internal regulator? what about this guy?

thats not bad, its built to 150 amp, was a 105 amp prior, also the internal regulator on it is an 18v which is way to high, you need/want a 14.4 volt regulator, also externals work better because it doesnt matter how fast the alt is spinning it reads the voltage at the battery, internals are nice because less crap under the hood but it doesnt exactly regulate the voltage, according to voltage, it regulates voltage according to speed... hope im helping

so can i run that and just buy another outside reg. and run it with the alt?

no it doesnt work tbat way, that alt is built for 18 volts, meaning tats what it runs at.
