my b2200 blew up with 170500 and one place tells me ethat the 1980s rotary engines will bolt to the trany in my truck? im looking at getting a 1980 12a engine and i need to know if it will bold to my trany both are manual. and just wonder what u guys think bout this say i get it to work even if i have to use the rx7 trany , i have an all aluminum radiator in the truck and its just bigger than stock and dual core. do u think it will cool the rotary engne?

If you get the bell housing from the RX7 transmission, you should be able to use your stock B2200 transmission, just swap out the bell housings.

Go with the 13b you'll be happier.

12a is prolly the most cheap and compatible... simply because it is carbed and has a distributor... 13b makes more power but ull have to get either a gsl-se motor cause it has a distributor... or the front cover so u can run a distributor on it, also with a 13b ull have to by a manifold and carbs for it.... UNLESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS, u plan to run fuel injection on it... then ull need all kindsa stuff.... fuel pump, wiring harnesses ecm's and all that hoopla..

easy= 12a (100hp)
faster= 13b (86-88 130hp) (89-91 160hp) thats if u keep the fuel injection

either way mounts will need to be made, and sence u'll be fabing up mounts i would go ahead and run a rx7 tranny.... the rx7 tranny will bolt up to either the 12a or the 13b so u dont need to bother with finding the right tranny... ull need a driveshaft made, and ummmmmmm..... thats prolly the bulk of it.... they are both hydralic clutches soooo, that wont be an issue...

ok well i have blabbed on enough... if u have any questions ill be glad to help ya if i can

oooooooh.... the b2200 tranny wont bolt directly up to the rex engine... thr radiator will prolly cool it, but if u can get a really really good electric fan, or just run the factory clutch fan.... it has been my experience that u are better off with the stock fan... it pushes more air the most e-fans

how about the rear end holdling up? im probably going to go with the 12a because that is the only thing at the junkyard besides a 13b fuel injection.then ill swap bellhouseings and relocate motor mounts. that way all my drive line and shifter will not need to be relocated. the people say it should run but its been sittin for a while. then i want a weber and 2inch exhaust
the only thing i have running off my engine is alt and ac pump. im gettin rid of everything under the hood that i do not HAVE to have.

wellllll.... if u can find a gsl or gsl-se rear end for cheap... they are lsd... but ull have to get a drive shaft made for it.... ur only gonna be makin 15-30 more hp, so the b2200 rearend will hold well.... the beauty of a rotary is all u need are fuel lines, a carb, and an ignition to make em run... anything else is just an eye sore.....lol....

any body got pics of rx7 12a in a b picup i have one close buy also and i was told that the rotory will bolt right up to my 2600 trany

No rotary engine bolts directly to any B series tranny. The only compatability is the b series gear sets with the 12a tranny gear sets. You need a bellhousing from a 12A tranny to bolt to the b series gear set. And thats the ONLY bolt in for a rotary swap.
