Tweaker lives in Atlanta so I am sure he knows about traffic there.2200's have a 3.91:1 rear end ratio.Great for pulling a load but not so hot for speed.90 in fifth gear si about max for the truck, and 6000 rpm redline or not,5200 is a LOT of revs for these old trucks. like Tweaker said,z rated tire or not u r driving a 20 year old truck with the technology current at that time. You tire patch is still ur tire patch. Also the trucks are not know for handling well, and unless u have rebuilt everything ur front end, bushings etc are are OLD.So,do us all a favor, keep it under 70.Ur mileage will be better and if u do have to stop fast u will have a much better chance.A word from the very old and sometimes silly--BJ.

I have the RX-7 swap in my daily driver mazda. with 205/75/14 tall tires 60 mph is a hair under 2000 rpm. svaes me a decent amount on fuel. I got a tranny from a non turbo 2nd gen. RX-7 I only used the center section I put my stock bellhousing and tailshaft onto the center section.

yes you can also just swap the tranny itself like dragginmazda has stated. but with the gearing you will lose the torqueyness you have now. you can also go with a jdm miata tranny as well. great for highway driving.

been driving through atlanta for 7 years now..... daily.... around 400 miles a week through atlanta and surrounding areas but mostly 285, 75, 85 and 400 travel (everyday).... not in my truck but in the company truck..... if you drive anywhere near 55 on 285 when traffic is moving you are getting passed by semi's.... if no ran over by them..... im not sure how often you drive on 285 but if you're traveling 55 you need to go ahead and pullover and give up.... the speed limit on 75 is 70 (untill you get to cobb co and through just the city of atlanta) speed limit on 85 is 60 on the south side and 70 on the north side.... speed limit on 400 is 60 untill north of dunwoody where its 70.... ive never NEVER been a wreck that was my fault..... when its your time to go your going to go reguardless of the situation...... 7 years with a license but have been driving for well over that (grew up on some land and drove an old 5spd courier around the farm)
