i actually did this exact thing to my truck i replaced a carbureated 2.2 with the fuel injected 2.6. the actual motor mounts on the frame have to be cut off and rewelded. you have to use the 2.6 L tranny. i happened to have both trucks that were both ext. cab so for my driveshaft i just took the end that went in the 2.6 tranny and mated it with the end off the other 2.2 driveshaft that went in the rear end. the mounting flange for the rear end on the 2.6 and 2.2 are different for some reason. atleast my 2 trucks were. i put them together at the middle U joint. worked great. good luck i know it was a pain in my butt.
apparently in the states, your 2.2 and 2.0 got a shitty 7" rear, and the b2600 got an 8" rear. in nz all rears were 8" in the trucks, only the vans got 7" rears in the smaller ones, and 8" in the bigger ones.
