ok i just bought a weber carb and put it on last night andwent to start the truck this afternoon and it wouldnt start. so i figured out that im not getting any fuel from the tank to the fuel pump. but before i changed the carb it was getting fuel so what could be so different, i just dont under stand i went with the weber because it would solve some of my vacuum problems but now this started and i cant figure out what to do. Should i just run a electronic fuel pump? someone please help me out cause i just sat out side for 4 hours trying to figure it out and im stuck.

Thanks Jeff

i know you dont wanna hear this but double check all your fuel lines. make sure you didnt pull the fuel filter with intent of changin it and forgot. Okay if everything is good then pull the fuel feed line off the carb and crank it over and see if your gettin any fuel at all. Is the carb new? some people say you dont need a pressure regulator but i run one on 2.5 psi.

pics always help aswell

After cranking, smell the exhaust pipe - does it smell like gasoline? This should help direct whether you're getting fuel to the carburetor. I now run a fuel pressure regulator on mine, but didn't the first 1.5 years I had the Weber, so it shouldn't matter to you for just trying to start it.

there are two lines coming from the tank to the carb, one is the delivery line the other is the return line.Did u happen to plug your return line into your carb?If so ur gas aint makin it to the carb.BJ

Are you out of gas?

No?

Just checking.

What happens if you pour gas down the throat to prime it?

no im not out of gas and when i poor gas into the carb it starts up but then shuts back off because there is no gas getting to the fuel pump

You've isolated your problem. Either your fuel pump is sucking air (keep priming, as it's designed to pump liquids), or your fuel line is plugged somewhere.

i know this may sound stupid but how do you prime the fuel pump?
