Ok, the engine that is coming with my truck is completely disassembled and has had the deck shaved, head shaved, and the cam and crank polished.

My question is, what parts are available out there for some extra horsepower and changes that I should make to improve the engine while it is apart. I love working on engines but I don't want to take them in and out just for the fun of it lol

Oh yeah, it is a 1987 B2200

theres only a few bolt on preformance options.... header, carb, intake, exhaust... other then that you are going to need machine work

Yeah, that is what I am looking for. The engine is completely taken apart right now so I am looking for the engine modifications that require this amount of teardown. Like what is the safest amount that I can bore the cylinders out? Stroker kits?

I know the weber carb will be going on it in short order. It already has a header on it, and what about that intake?

someone used to make a cam for it, but i dont remember who

not shure about the bore.. you might get some connecting rods a lil shorter and you can get high comp pistons...a good valve job... port and polish the head...port match and polish the intake...i mean any principals that apply to other engine will apply to this one...although i wouldn't waste your time i highly doubt one could ever get over 200hp..and for the cash you will spend just swap in a v8...i would cut my losses sell the block and head and swap someting in there just my 2cents

Yeah, Only issue is that I have my small block toy that is in the project stage. 2003 Ranger that already has a 302 sitting in between the frame rails. So I am just looking to modify it and let it be. Something to get me back and forth to work if I need it and cruise around with.

I have a dealer account with a certain nitrous company so it will have a bottle in it...so high compression is out. I may bust out the porting tools and massage the head and intake.

What kind of engine swaps are out there? Sorry for the questions but I am new to the B scene...been around the Ranger scene forever though lol

Well, I just went through and priced out all the parts to put the engine back together. I am a stickler for details so I priced out a new water pump, oil pump, timing belt and tensioners, plugs, wires, distributor, cap, rotor, ignition module, carb rebuild kit, gasket kit, new bearings, new pistons and rings and new coolant hoses. Came out to about $650 bux. I will probably order the parts next week after payday lol

Well, I found most of the parts from another shop cheaper. So, hopefully the engine will be back together next weekend and back in the truck. I am going to put the savings towards bagging it and getting the materials I need to do the body work.

But I already checked the flux capacitor and it is in perfect working order lol

Paeco in Birmingham Alabama, makes speed parts for the 2200.I am running one of their street cams, stiffer valve springs, lighter retainers,a 34/34 Weber, polished and ported and gasket matched intake nd exhaust,an aluminum crank pulley, electric fan, etc. My little dawg does ok (about 120 hp),but is limited by the automatic.I think Colt also makes a cam for the 2200,but have no experience with them Paeco makes really quality stuff and they will sell u the stuff for a 200 plus HP motor but I am not sure how reliable it would be or how streetable..Hope this helps.BJ
