hey guys. just bought my first b2200 the other day and have noticed that my temp gauge likes to go into the upper 3/4. also i smell anti-freeze inside the cab, which made me think its the heater core but the windows dont fog up. i checked the coolant level and it was up to the top. looked around the engine bay and couldnt see any signs of leaks or anything. what do you guys say could be happening??

head gasket? check and see if when the motor is cold if there in oil in the coolant and when hot coolant in the oil.also check under your carpet on the pass. side anyway. just in case

After running the truck for a bit turn it off and check the center of the rad if its cold the rad is plugged up and not getting good flow. I tried like hell to clean mine with no luck just bought a new one and i was good to go..

Or the thermostat could be shot. Feel the upper rad hose after running it and see if its hot or not.

oh yea it could also be the rad cap if the rubber is bad it will do this also

i had a problem like that and it was the thermostat. i would just change it if i were you. even if its not it, it wouldnt hurt. and its only like $8. and the way i figured mine out was letting it overheat or at least above half and then feeling both upper and lower radiator hoses. one of my hoses was boiling hot and the other was barely warm

sweet. thanks guys. ill try all those an see. i got my fingers crossed hopin its sumthin small an not the head gasket.

so i went an checked my upper an lower rad hoses an the top one was hot an the bottom was barely warm. same goes for the rad hot on top cold on the bottom. so is this just a plugged rad??

Highly possible. When u first start it, take the cap off. Let it run a bit. Look and see how the coolant is flowing, you'll see if its moving well.

Did it run enough to open the t stat? If you open the cap it still might look like it is flowing well but not flowing threw the middle cores. I would drive it abit like normal then check the rad again if it has cool spots and hot spots it has plugged fins...
