yes. th reason you need to run an oiler, is that the original aircon gas, has small traces of oil in it, for this reason. however, you could setup an original drier (in reverse) to circulate and cool the oil, and not have all of it run through your system.

what about using an older compressor like one that has its own sump? would that be ok or would it be better to just use an oiler with my factory compressor

You would be better off using a older york-style compressor due to the oiling issue. Just making brackets to get it to fit is always fun.

i have a older style york compressor, how do i tell if it oils itself or not. ill be installing it as soon as i find out a little more about it...

ok i have done this. on nissans and on my maz. the maz compressor is awesome. i fill my 5 gallon from 0-165 in 21 seconds. you definitely want to put an oiler plus a water/oil separator or trap before the tank. i have been running mine for over 8 months with no problems

I've had my york on for a while. It pumps crazy air.havnt hooked it up to my 12 gallon yet tho. my stock mada compressor was a sle foiler. i didnt know it untill i had it off...
