on the notch im deffinatley going with a step notch but i want to use the diamond plate i have so later on i can... i guess you call it covering the frame with diamond plateand chrome it... may be too much might just powdercoat it... just want it to be sick... but using the diamond where would i get the dementions or maybe even templates?

It will add a lot of weight to cover the frame in plate....you would be better off to have 4 sideplates laser cut then weld a bottom and top plate on...

perhaps paint then
but still who do you know with a diamondplate notch?

Hate to say it as well, but this notch was welded up fine and is PLENTY strong....

Thanks for the thought though!

Whatever the case....like I said a decent welder could do it without filleting the edges...but the best way for a novice welder, would be to do it....whatever the case may be though, the force on a notch is focused more on the side plates where they weld to the frame and not where they weld to the top and bottom plates so it will be plenty strong enough.
