No I run annealed copper line designed for airbrake systems with DOT compression fittings for copper line, nothing on my truck is hardware store bought, but it still only cost like 140 bucks for all the line and fittings....

is the copper dot?

never seen copper lines used before. what applications is it usually used on, trains or something?

i suppose the advantage of mounting the valves near the bags is (besides the small amount of extra volume) the air has less distance to travel before filling your bag. the difference is super minimal, miliseconds at best... but still there's a difference. i'm sure that the extra volume is way less than like 1/10th of a gallon- depends on what size line you're using. say you have 1/4" lines, it'll make damn near no difference, but if you're running some crazy 1" lines or something then the extra volume could be significant.
as for my setup, i have my air valves mounted right next to the bags.

be sure to run an air line from your dump valves to a location outside your truck, its really loud - REALLY LOUD - when it dumps inside. at least my SMC valves are anyway.

Copper is used for refrigerant lines in AC units, oil lines on motors for jagura, and it is used for air on big rigs in various applications.

I believe so....it is not stamped, but I believe it is recognized as DOT grade as long as you use the right rating, which if I remember correctly is TYPE L.....although being as the air system as a whole is not DOT rated, the airline is the least of the worries...HAHAHAH

there are a ton of threads about copper airline on ssm. a lot of people in the north west were having problems of cracking. others have no problems at all. I used to run all of my valves either directly on the bag or within a very close distance to the bag. I was surprised how much of a difference it really did make when i moved them that close to the bag itself.

Annealled copper will not crack....although some people tried to use hard copper, like water pipe for the house, and yes that will crack.....

But like anything if you use the right material for the application it will work....Oh and my truck was daily driven for 2 years with it on there, all year, winter included, and it is fine, never turned green and never so much as even a bit of surface corrosion.

The problem with SSM sometime is that 95 percent of the people that chime up about something have never had experience with it, but their friends moms siter tried it 15 years ago, and thea makes them an expert.

I do love SSM though, but thats my 2 cent bitch.
