sudkrap is right, you shouldn't weld your bag brackets to the shock tower. bad idea. and yes you should cut it off and weld the brackets straight to the frame. the shock tower wasn't designed to be a load bearing part of the frame, it was a SHOCK tower.
if you cut it off and run the bags closer to the frame you can get more lift too.
twistedsmily - the brackets won't determine if your truck lays out or not. its where you mount the upper bracket that will determine it. - unless your balljoints won't allow for the extreme drop. should be ok though.

I'd like to re-do it, because when i did this i had my wife helping me because i was doing it outside in the rain on crutches with a broken leg, and i was pressed for time because i was moving in two days. so it's not optimal, just got me driving. i'l like to either notch the frame and move the bag in, or pinch the rails in and build some longer control arms and get more lift.
