true it is your truck(or whoever) and you can do what you want... but as in my previous story it does affect other ppl having an unsafe ride, so that kinda makes it other ppl's problem too.

If you havent done it,then do it. I did it for about a year. It will reallymotivate you to bag your truck, trust me. If you dont plan on baggin your truck then keep them, but even cranked down it still rides like shiot.

cranking down the torsions does not affect the srping rate at all...so as long as you get a shorter shock and remove the factory bumpstop it should ride just like factory in the front....

gravity i have to disagree with u on that. i have reindexed the torsions, cut the bumpstop out and have shorter shocks and its still the roughest ride iive ever had. im not complaining because i love how its soo low.

but i was thinking could i cut the bumstop bracket off so i dont hit it?

Alrighty,I'm going to get in on this too.

Before I dropped my truck,I asked tons of questions about the ideal way to static drop my truck.

Now,lookng at your pictures, you have to lose the bottom bump stop for the lower control arm. I chopped off the entire bumpstop and bracket with a sawzall.

Your torsion bars are also really, really cranked! On mine, you can only count 14 threads showing.

Spindles are definetly worth it. I don't like flipped ball joints. I had them on my truck for 3 months, and it rode really rough. When I put the spindles on,it rode like a Cadillac.

When it comes down to it all,if you want to lower your truck, you have to do it right and you have to spend the money. Half assing it is unsafe not only for you,but for others. Suspension is not something to fool around with. It is as important as your brakes and tires. Safety should be a number 1 priorty over how low the truck is. Plus,if you drive the thing every day,you don't want to be getting caught up on curbs and stuff. I've got like 3.5-4" of ground clearance from the bottom of my frame to the ground, but I'm also on 17s,and I still take it real easy.

Drop shocks are also a good investment. I bought Toxic shocks, and they were definetly worth the price. $34.95 each at Stylin Concepts. Can't go wrong.

crazymikey, how much better is the ride with out the brackets? i was told that they are there to limit the amout of suspension travel so nothing bottoms out but to cut them out so i dont hit them, that was by a mechanic at werk.

also wat size drop shock do u have or wat is the product number, if u remember?

By removing the complete bracket you allow the suspension to cycle further down and keep a proper travel.....and again, by reindexing the torsions you do not change the spring rate at all and therefore if should not change your ride quality at all....of course things like lower profile tires, different shock types, and worn suspension components WILL affect ride quality.

oh ok. sorry bout sounding like i was arguing but i guess i must off read it right now. thanks for the input.

Can you run drop spindles with a bag setup? My truck is going to be coming off the road soon because my tranny is going out and its got a slew of problems but it's not leaving my hands. i dont want to buy them if they wont go with bags.

My truck's been down, up, down, up, and down again...thinking of going up again...thinking of baggin it just don't got the cash and feel like it's a stupid investment for a daily

I've flipped both bj's upper and lowers, reindexed, removed bumpstops, on shorter shocks. Yeah sure one a decent road she rides great, but when I see a bump ahead I have squeeze the butt cheeks lol. And Heaven forbid someone take half my lane and I have think about going off the side of the road even in the slightest! So yeah I see some dangers riding static dropped...no matter how ya do it really

Another thing I see now to think about is tire wear. My fronts were used with about 3/4 tread and only on the truck about 6 months...if that much really...and I just checked this morning and the insides are bald already lol...this being due most likely to the excessive amount of camber being this low. So it's got me thinking of just putting her back up again.

You have to have atleast 16" wheels for spindles...which rule me out.

You could also go with dropped control arms though...I wonder about camber with those too.
