If you have shocks that are valved too stiff, and it stops the suspension movement almost immediately I would think that as a rough ride. It would feel almost like you had no springs at all.

hmm, so i should reword it to say the proper shock. that was kind of assumed, but i'll spell it out.
of course you don't want to go buy shocks for a frickin 2ton dually and put them on your minitruck...

be sure your wheels don't hit them when you turn. don't mount them more then 25-30 degrees off vertical. they'll be stiffer straight vertical and a little softer the more they're layed over.

My truck rides damn smooth, and I have some firm shocks. It depends on how you mount them. A lot of people with bagged trucks have told me they are impressed with the way my truck rides compared to theirs. All I knew was its a little bit stiffer than it was stock, but it feels more like a sport compact car. I didn't realize how shitty some bagged trucks rode until I got in some friends tucks.

Anyways, this is how my shocks are mounted.

They are mounted at about the half way point of the arm. They are Doestch Tech shocks, and run about $30 from Summit, in many different sizes. I think they are a good shock for the front. They are stiff, but not too stiff IMO. I'm really happy with them. And I run Explorer ProComps in the back. They are a little softer, and they were a good match to the front with less weight in the back. My truck rides pretty much the same from front to back.

im still kinda not sure what shock to get. What i ment by roughening up the ride was like a stiff shock. thats wut im in denile about is all the shocks out there and i don't know which ones are too soft or too hard so im kinda wanting to go inbetween that. ive seen alot of bagged setups with toxic shocks. and what i think i learned from this topic is that it depends on how they are mounted aswell for the ride quality??

went to 2 local auto part stores today and asked for shocks. Both of them had never heard of toxic shocks and the stock shocks they sell are $80 each and the other ones that he said are made for adjustable suspension are $100 each. on the internet i saw toxic shocks for about $30 on stylinconcepts.com. wheres a good place to get them?? i would prefer a website in canada or a local store in british columbia in the lowermain land. or anything
