i have bushings and get a fair amount of side to side... like seth said about 7". i feel that's plenty for a minitruck. its not like your climbing boulders, or curbs even... you don't need 2 damn feet of articulation. save your money and buy better valves or a better compressor or a water trap or something. bushings are fine.
BTW dropped90 - bushings come in different sizes, if you can find a bushing that's the same size as your superpivots you could swap them out if you want.

Connecting your lower links at the stock leafspring mount isn't really a good idea if you want the truck to lay.

Not really. A bushing just slides into the tubing, and is held in place by the bolt. Super pivots use a much larger outer sleeve, that is also narrower. And are also machined to accept whatever clip or nut holds the internal cups in place. The only way to make it work later on down the road, would be to buy the super pivot, and find a bushing that would fit inside it. But that defeats the entire purpose.

but with a super pivot joint there's still a thru bolt that holds the end of the link to the frame/axle, right?

Yes there is. But the Super Pivots Suicide Doors sells are a different width than any bushings they sell.

Regardless, you can't put a bushing where a super pivot goes. Its one or the other.

you can find bushings that are damn near any size, all you have to do is look around. a quick search of Energy suspension bushings gave me this info... they make all these bushings in all different sizes and even different bolt shank diameters... the narrowest was 1 3/8" and the widest was damn near 3" - so there are a variety of sizes you can get.

From SD you can get these weld on studs for making your link bar ends

you can weld them to a super pivotlike this one

or you can buy the bushings
thread post photo

and buy some DOM tubing and weld the stud to the DOM for your swappable superpivot/bushing. all you have to do is unthread one and insert the other.
Granted that's a whole lot of work, running around and what not. it's probably not worth it (to me anyway) but you could do it. i'm also not saying that energy suspension has the right size bushing to fit your application, but it was an example. just cuz SD doesn't sell the right size bushing doesn't mean it doesn't exist.
not trying to start anything, but i'm just saying it's possible.

sounds like it would benefit to just save a little longer and go with the superpivot the first go around

thanks for the help

if that's the route you wanna go, then yes. usually it always benefits to save a little longer and get what you really want, instead of settling for less... your always disappointed and end up spending more in the long run.
