Put it on jackstands, you have to crawl halfway under the truck

do not do it with it on the ground with tension on them. very dangerous.

i htought they were right at the front end anbody got a pic for me to see of what i am going to be tightening

NO don't raise it! I don't think you can even turn the torsions to raise the truck. It won't happen. Don't even try turning them that way! Your truck will explode and shower your neighborhood with flaming debris! You must only go down!

Ok seriously though. (sorry I just couldn't resist) Your torsion bar ends are about mid cab back and have like a claw looking thing on the end. I don't have any pics as mine were gone a long time ago. With your truck on the ground, look and see how far off the bumpstops your truck is. If you are sitting right on the mount, metal on metal, either cut off the lower mount or raise the truck and place some cut down bumpstops in. I say cut the mount off I remeber when I first did that. It was so nice to have suspension travel again! How low are you? Do you have the stock shocks in the front?
You do need to jack up the truck.

cool know what your talking about and yes i have stock shocks up front but the bump stop is gone....now can the torsion bars were out? so i should just cut the bottom bracket off?....wouldn't my a arm hit and possible break[/quote]

Yeah you can just cut the lower mount off the frame. This will give you more suspension travel. However you will bottom out on the stock shocks before you hit the ground. Nothing will break. Depending on how low you are in the front you might want to invest in some shortened shocks like toxics or RCDs.

i am dropped 5" in the front 6" in the back any idea of how long the shocks should be?

go pay a mechanic

To do what? Measure his suspension travel.? Not sure what you mean here....

Been a long time since I was there so I don't remember but what I would do is measure from shock mount to shock mount and then make sure you get a shock that has enough travel. You could try calling the places that sell toxics. I do not remember if they sell them in different sizes. You could also try your local auto parts store and tell them what you measurements are and they should be able to help.
