You seem to be a little confused. It takes less PSI to lift the rear of a truck with the bags on the bars due to the leverage of the mechanical advantage. One could end up with a "better ride" due to lower spring that is a result of the bags being at a lower psi. One could also put to big of bags to far forward on the bar and ending up with to soft of a set up getting lift at to low of PSI. The second scenario would be multiplied by the absence of shocks.

I hope this helps, and if anyone has anything to add, please do so!

i have always been told that bag over bar is a smoother ride but then dev came down and road in the 83 and said it was damn smooth and i dont think he could really tell a difference in ride quality. his is bag over bar while mine is over axle and i am rollin the re7s in the rear and love em.

the bag is in more of a bind on bag cuz its so close to the pivot piont it takes more pressure to lift because its not only pushing down on the rearend its pushing down on the pivot point also..

I see your point, but I'm inclined to disagree. It's a simple matter of leverage, it takes less work for the bag to move the rear end a greater amount.

I actually have both set ups and feel very little difference. The howler has bag over axel and the roadster has bag on bar. Both run firestone 2600's. The roadster does get more rear lift though.

well i haven't been doing this for very long and can only speak with what i have dealt with, and if it is suppose to take less pressure to lift the bag if it is over the bar than i would launch my truck to the moon if i went bag over bar. i hop the rear tires about 1-2" off the ground shot from 200 psi and sat at about 50 psi when it settles with compressed air not nitrogen and my ride height is probably 15 psi (i don't know cause the gauge doesn't go that low). now granite, this is all recent but i just installed new re7s and got rid of the firestone 2500s out back and i don't have the bed on right now. but even with the bed on and the 2500 firestones my ride height was at 25-30 psi in the rear and was damn fast still. all on bag over axle. my next setup will be a cantilever setup with my rx7 irs

hey badchicn - maybe you could help out here. which truck takes more pressure to lift in the rear? bag over bar or bag over axle?

Bag over axel= less pressure. The extra mechanical advantage of the bag on bar requires more pressure to lift. The upside to this is it has less distance to travel. (Only my assumption, I have never had an air gauge on any of my set-ups.)

i think i might just go with a bag on rear.

im running Re6's on the bars and it rides awsome. had bags on the axel when i first bagged it and it rode like shit. so bouncey. and i noticed after i mounted them on the bars it took more psi to lift to ride height.
