I'm getting some pretty bad wheel hop around 50mph. Could it be the shocks? Pinion angle maybe?
It's lowered on 3" blocks and with some leafs removed.
It has the main leaf, center leaf (one with the brackets) and the overload. It doesn't max out and rest on the overload.
I notice it hops really bad around 50, if I left off the gas around that speed it gets even worse.
Any ideas?

Check and make sure your u bolts are tight, that is usually what happens when one side of the axle loosens up the u bolts.

yeah after you lower a truck, you always need to go back and recheck the u-bolts to see if they loosened up.

alignment, tire balance, loose lugnuts, ubolts, or any other suspension related item. when was the last time you replaced your shocks? that's probably the number one overlooked thing in an older car... they're supposed to be replaced every so often, and i bet they're pretty old...
if it were me i'd put new shocks and tire rebalance on my to-do list.

check u joints if you notice the shake at only a certain speed.

u bolts

U bolts have been retightened. Still happens.
My first thought was the shocks. It ONLY happens at right around 50mph and usually when I let off the gas.
It's like the back end is hopping off the ground.
I'll check the Ujoints since I have to do some work on it this weekend.
speedster93b - It's never had an alignment. I know the alignment is off though. I've got new tie rods and a new idler arm waiting to be put on. I was waiting until I replaced all the steering components before I had it aligned. I have no idea on the tire balance. But I know what a tire shake feels like, it's not the cause. It's not a vibration, it's a definite hop.
I keep thinking either my pinion angle is off or my shocks are shot.
Thanks for all the suggestions guys. Any ideas are appreciated

does it have a carrier bearing on the driveline? That might be something to check out also.

I would check out the u joints and carrier bearing

" wheel hop"s a term usually reserved for wheel chatter under hard acceleration.U said yours occurs when u r at 50 mph and let off the gas.that would not be wheel hop but is sommething in the drive line-bad u joints, out of balance drive shaft, loose u bolts on the spring perches, bad carrier bearing in the tailshaft, etc.bj
