what to do.....
depends on skillset, time, sometimes money, and what ya got fer tools.
I have been debating this same thing lately for myself.
I too have 20s with 35 series rubber.
The question bein how far do I go, when does it stop, should I have built a custom frame?
I have a buddys car to paint in the last week of april, I have till then to get the major fab, fer baggin done so I can get the truck out of the shop.
Narrowing the frame is moving the framerails in , Zing is raising the front arch of the frame in this case.
These two modifications can be done at one time with super careful measuring, you are moving the frame alignment in two different directions simultaneously, not for the faint of heart lol
I liked how they did it in the tech article in minitruckin, pullin the front of frame right off the truck.
I would not do anything till I had the new motor ready for mock up so I was not gonna undo or redo anything.
I been thinkin bout a 302 an I have to decide quick where to draw the line.
Money the way it is right now I cant afford a new crate engine and tranny so I will look into it maybe next year, we'll see what gas prices are gonna do.
I say go fer it, narrow and Z the frame build yer own crossmember or mod the stock one.
-you will tuck easier
-you will be able to turn sharper most likely
-you may not need as much camber, tires better off.
-you may have options for front fenders 4wd or 2wd
-you could look into longer lower arms and that would allow for better lift and steering and triangulation.etc...
Go for it cuz you may kick yerself at a later time for not goin ahead when you had the chance, with everything already out of the way.
As minitruckers most of us are fearless when it comes to cuttin, an moddin, we have a stubborn never say die hardcore attitude that never bends, especially when others critisize it gives us more determination to go ahead with a radical plan.
