Ya I'm not worried about the hood. . . I know its not gonna clear. . . I'm plannin on goin with the 4bt cummins turbo diesel. . . So I'm gonna have to mod the hood. . . Sucks, I know. . . But with this much bodydrop, I seriously doubt me bein able to keep the stock hood. . . Even the b2600i hood. . .

heres what i say.......Z it an inch cause it sounds great for what you want to do. its better to do it now in this time of the build before firewalls and tubs and shit get built. as far as engines go, id do a simple rotory, maybe boost it. that would give you a flat hood with a bigger bodydrop on 20s. flat hoods and bodydrops are braggin rights no matter how you look at it. its easy to cut a big ass ugly hole in a hood. mine is like tre5s, shorter weber cleaner and it clears the 2600i. but i left my engine alone and didnt lower it. if your engine idea is set in stone, Z it anyway and let the motor come out of the hood. whats another inch of engine showing gonna hurt?

Josh, i like Mikey's idea of a rotary swap. I have the smaller 12a in mine and let me assure you that a turbo 13B would make you VERY happy. Power and a little better fuel economy than a V8. Plus the WTF factor, every time I pop my hood people say WTF. I have 8" easy from my alternator(highest point) to the stock 2200 hood. - Ed

I don't want a rotary motor though. . . I want to do somethin that hasn't really been done. . . so 4 cyl trbo diesel is what I want. . . I don't care about the hood. . I care about layin out hard, not hittin the f\end\gine crossmember, and layin out on a lil bigger tire. . .

what to do.....
depends on skillset, time, sometimes money, and what ya got fer tools.

I have been debating this same thing lately for myself.
I too have 20s with 35 series rubber.
The question bein how far do I go, when does it stop, should I have built a custom frame?
I have a buddys car to paint in the last week of april, I have till then to get the major fab, fer baggin done so I can get the truck out of the shop.

Narrowing the frame is moving the framerails in , Zing is raising the front arch of the frame in this case.
These two modifications can be done at one time with super careful measuring, you are moving the frame alignment in two different directions simultaneously, not for the faint of heart lol
I liked how they did it in the tech article in minitruckin, pullin the front of frame right off the truck.
I would not do anything till I had the new motor ready for mock up so I was not gonna undo or redo anything.
I been thinkin bout a 302 an I have to decide quick where to draw the line.
Money the way it is right now I cant afford a new crate engine and tranny so I will look into it maybe next year, we'll see what gas prices are gonna do.

I say go fer it, narrow and Z the frame build yer own crossmember or mod the stock one.
-you will tuck easier
-you will be able to turn sharper most likely
-you may not need as much camber, tires better off.
-you may have options for front fenders 4wd or 2wd
-you could look into longer lower arms and that would allow for better lift and steering and triangulation.etc...

Go for it cuz you may kick yerself at a later time for not goin ahead when you had the chance, with everything already out of the way.

As minitruckers most of us are fearless when it comes to cuttin, an moddin, we have a stubborn never say die hardcore attitude that never bends, especially when others critisize it gives us more determination to go ahead with a radical plan.

Thanks for the input man! ! I'm not wantin to narrow the front frame. . jus Z it. . . I am runnin 2wd fenders right now and i'm gettin plenty of lift. . . I'm clearin the tires by almost 3 inches. . . And I'm bodydropped 3.25". . . And camber isn't an issue because I love it. . . And I plan on cruisin lifted up most all the time. . . I like lookin stock, then flickin on tha bitches

And I have the tools to do it, and I don't doubt at all that I can do it. . . Hell, I jus bodydropped my first truck an inch into the rockers. . . And I'm about to backhalf the frame with an independent rear suspension. . . So Z'in the frame isn't too intimidating comparably. . . haha
