i just went through all this this week. did you get the torsion bar bracket kit? if so, cut about 5/8" inch off of the unbent end and place it about 1/2 in from the bj(once you flip it) tack the plate to the lca and the to the spacer. my bag plate actually ended up about 3/4 in over the back set of holes for the bj.

notice the left hand side of the bj you can see where i marked it. hope this helps

why the flipping of BJ and the pie cutting the control arm? Wouldnt that sacrifice the integrity of those pieces? Whats the main help with flipping the BJ in the first place? I am trying to understand the reasoning so if I ever decide to bag my truck I will go in with a full understanding...after all...knowledge is power and I like being overly prepared

if you flip the bottom and top it gives you like another 3/4 in of droop. thats all

yeah i just tried that & i don't like the way it sits so i'm gonna leave the bottom bag plate and notch the frame and redo the top plate.

do i have to cut much out when notching the frame and what should i do about reinforcing the frame?

Here is what i did. Cut the hole as wide as your bag and use either a big piece of pipe 1/4 wall or some plate which ever you have. I used pipe cause it has the roundness of the bag. Hopefully this gives you an idea!

This is a small piece laying around but you get the idea if it was a bigger piece

Also here is a link to all my pics that I have taken on the build, maybe one on of them might help also.

Yup what he said! That is almost exactly what I did. Except I didnt cut the hole that big. I actually made grooves on the side about 1/4" each side that the upper plate slid into. This created more surface area to weld to and strengthen it. Other than that almost exactly as mine was done. Whew...means I did it right!!! LOL

As for the BJ flip....that is for more drop and it allows the bj to travel a bit more. The upper doesn't bind up when layed out on a 205/40R16. Idealistically I would love to have custom arms that looked better.

does the upper need to be pie cut and angled on a 215/45r17?
jmzcustomz (jeff)   +1y
Nope shouldn't at all. Josh has done that to his (well reverse pie cut) because he is laying out on a 20". I still have about 3/4" more to go up when layed out on a 205/40R16.

You probably will need to pie cut your uppers to get it to lay. . a 215/45/17 is 24.6" tall. . My truck will lay on a 225/30/20 with a notched frame, toyota spindles, and pie cut uppers. . I can't say for sure because I haven't bagged a Mazda on stock spindles. . But i'm sayin you will have to pie cut. . My tires are 25.3" tall and it BARELY lays with the mods I have done. . I am gonna run a 225/35/20 tire. . which is 26.2" tall, so I am gonna Z my frame probably an inch to get it to lay out. . I am doin it so the suspension will have more drop AND to raise the engine crossmember off the ground. . .
