Does anyone have some good pics of Z'ing the front frame of a Mazda? ? ? I am gonna be doin mine soon and I haven't found many good writeups about Z'ing a frame. . . Even about toyotas or anything. . . So if you know how to do it. . DO A WRITE UP WITH SOME PICS

And another question. . So I dont have to make another thread. . I wanna make it look as stock as possible. . I am plannin on Z'ing the frame 1" in the front to raise the engine crossmember off the ground and give my suspension a little more drop so I can run bigger tires. . . My question is though, can I Z the frame under the front of the cab, right behind the firewall? ? So the part you see at the firewall is still stock? ? ? I'm shaving my whole firewall so I have to remake that anyway, so thats not an issue. . Jus wonderin if you guys think thats a good idea? ? ?

I didn't Z mine, but isnt the body mount right where you are talking about Z'ing it under the cab. I think if you do it right at the suspension and make some nice gussets it would be the least noticable. The Z would be hidden from view while looking into the wheel well opening because it would be right behind the wheel itself. I still think it looks fine when you do it just infront of the firewall also.

you should check out YotaScene.com man there are a ton of threads on this subject there. It's amazing how similar the frames look.

Ya, i remember that pic from your build, Seth. . . Mine won't be that big but still the same look i guess. . .

How do you keep the frame straight as you raise it up? ? Do you weld stuff to either side of the cut? ? Any tips on how to keep everything straight? ?

And I've looked in the Toyota section on ssm. . but not on yotascene. . . I'll check it out Baha. .

I z'ed mine 3/4 of an inch. it doesnt sound like much, but i didnt want to drag the lower crossmember off. What i did was make 2 straight lines, they where 3/4 of an inch in difference. I cut the frame, then alined the top mark with the bottom mark raising the frame 3/4 of an inch. I also did mine when it was stripped down too just the frame also, so welding some steel to the frame to support it would be a good idea.

Ya I'm gonna have the cab off when I do it. . . I already have the motor out. . which is probably gonna help a ton. . . But ya. . . I wanna see more pics! ! !

Hard t see but I took 1X1 and tacked it at the 4 corners of the front clip while the frame was layed out. One at each core support mount and one on each frame rail by the Z. That way I knwe the front was as low as I could go or want to go.
