was wondering if some of you guys could give me a hand. im running two 380 compressors on the truck. im running the ford starter solenoid with the fuse between the comps and the solenoid. this is the bulb type fuse that is used in stereo system wiring. im running a 60 amp fuse because the comps pull like 25 a piece. now when i was running the blade type fuse i wasnt having any problems. the fuse was approximetely 2 foot away from the comps. now im fusing it under the hood. the new bulb type fuses want to blow. some a few minutes after some a few days or a week after. im wondering if maybe the jumping of the front in when lifting it is weakening it? anybody that could help would be greatly appreciated.

What size wire are you running? Is the fuse in a holder if so is that mounted down or attached to something so it doesn't move around?

im running 8 gauge wire. its in a fuse holder but its not bolted down.

Hahah...

Try bolting that down or at least get it stabilized!!!

From my experience in the past with those type fuses you may want to mount it some how. They don't like to be banged around, not saying this is the solution but something to try. Does the soliend need to be grounded if so make sure the ground is good, and the ground on the comps too.

True! Ground is a killer! Make sure they are all solid and no corrosion is on the connectors...things like that can come loose or build up corrosion which will short out whenever aggravated!

okay i will double check these ideas and see what i can come up with.

those 380s really need 30 amps each. and if the wire is small or the current is too much of a draw it will cause heat and cause the fuse to blow. up the fuse to an 80 and it should hold.
