a two link make out of leaf springs is a rolling death trap..... now the 2 link subject has gotten alot of bad comments due to some of the ways folks have set/build them..... i have news for you guys..... i was at the local pull-a-part the other day and happened to notice that alot of factory rear suspensions were 2 link...... i seen lincoln town car with 2 link and springs on top of the axle.... i seen ford aerostar with 2 link and springs on the link (kinda like bags on bars) i seen a 1/2ton gmc truck with a rather long 2 link and springs on the axle and several other makes and modles with a factory 2 link and different variations of coil overs, springs and air bags <=== late 90s lincoln towncar).... so the 2 link thing is possible if set up right and build out of the right materials.... although id have to say id rather roll an imperfect 4link then a leaf spring 2 link any day of the week

I got a 2link sittin around. who wants it, i like keeping my u-joints

the factory 2 link set-ups i seen have the pivot on the link and the u joints exactly ligned up at the same mounting point (if that makes any sense reading it lol).....

When you see a vehicle set up like that from the factory, like the GMC truck you talked about, they are generally referred to as "Trailing Arm" suspension.
... and yes, Chevy had a great set up, but they took up too much room and were ultimately re-designed.

i dont have much info on this type of set up but i know of one company that swears by them ,and they have done some of the sickest 2 link set ups in the world ,including the badest hummer ive ever seen (EKSTENSIVE METAL WORKS) WHEN I GOT MY C-10 I DEBATED ON the set up i was gonna run and i spoke with them for a few days .and after i did some research ,it was the best way to go ,for my app,i figured most vehicles come factory with them and the ride quality is awesome ,so why not ,and is easy to install, check it out and call them and ask some questions ,they have been doing 2 links for a long time ,if anyone would know "they would

You must keep in mind that most of these factory 2 links only move maybe 4 inches on the regular annd a few more on a rare occasion. these trucks see 12 inches of movement on the regular every single day.

im runnin a 2 link on my truck....i hate it but i gotta say why....its cuz i want side 2 side and shit....but if i didnt then it would be fine...i would run my bags on the lower links if i was to build it tho....they are over the axle rite now and it has like 7 or 8 inches of lift and it rides really good...mine is 2x2x1/4 square tube, bolted to spring hangers in front then bolted to the spring perches on the axle with 4 inch drop blocks then a tube connecting the two links together behind the axle basically making a u shape, it handles good and rides good just dont have the lift im wanting in the rear and still cant drag ass but thats cuz my drive shaft is like a half inch too long lol over all if its done right....its very reliable...ill get pix soon tho

your right ,there are pros and cons to every suspension, but like you said ,its reliable ,and only problem is for your set up its not what you want ,see i dont want all the side to side and stuff so its no biggy to me ,and yes if its done right it will perform and drive better than factory .i know cause i had ekstensive build me a rear set up on bar ,i get awesome lift ,and ride quality is insane ,i cant be happier ,if you wanna see pics check out my c120 thread

its all about preference and your application. like i said 2 links have gotten a bad rep because of all the ones you've seen that aren't set-up properly...

yes two links can be the best thing the the world,as for the chevy links if you looked closely they are set up in a triangle set up plus a panhard bar that is what made them so great, but like it was said it took a lot of room to have it,plus a two link bag set up if you got it mounted at the same point as the drive line ujounts then it will ride like a dream if not it will pull or push your drive shaft in to or out of your trans... hope that sounds like it did in my head...lol
