What are peoples opinions on the different compressors out there. I had one of aims dc5000(or whatever) for my burb and it was pretty good, but I refuse to buy from aim. The napa here in town has little portable compressor/tanks with the same compressor on them, and they said they can get me just the compressor, but I haven't gotten a price yet.

Just wondering what some people have used and what they think of them.

If we get good discussion on this I will probably stickie.

There are several reputable companies that make compressors that are specifically designed for air ride suspension. Viair, Air Zenith are the two companies that are at the top of the list. If a cheap compressor that is designed to fill tires or a small tank once in a while would work for more than a couple of weeks there would be waaaay more people using them. Being cheap now will only be more costly in the future. I am a Viair fan because their compressors have lasted for me for a very long time and their customer service is second to none.

No these are heavy duty compressors for job sites and such. They are like 3/4 hp. I'm not looking for cheap, I'm looking for good. Buy once buy right. I just don't have any experience with the other brands, I made an engine driven compressor after my aim one bit the bullet.

And I don't want to give up a/c on his truck(heat index of 105 today), and I don't think the engine can take another accessory, can't get out of it's own way with a 100 yard head start as it is.

i have had both the the dc5000 and the viair and i would say they both are right there together on what they can do and how well they do it, im runing 2 viair 380s and i love them, more then i did the dc5000 for the fact that they dont make as much noise as the dc and they dont shack the crap out of your truck... plus they are a lot smaller and that mains you can place them in a lot more spots that the dc will not fit in to, my viair 380s can push 200psi each and i have 2 plus they are pulling less on the battery then the dc every did

I have used viair for a long time and will not use anything else i have 2 480 compressors in my truck and thats what i use when building trucks for other people. I run 200 psi in my system and I have had only one compressor go to crap on me and viair replaced it no problem. They have the best customer service.

AC compressors we sell are the same AC compressors sold by the dealer. The only difference is price. Our cost is about 50% on the price of a broker. Also have access to our service role U.S. customers.

I have 2 dc07's I think same as the new dc7500 I guess. Both probably need a rebuild so far I am happy with them but would never buy from aim as I got these used from a buddy. They are loud but fill fast 90ish-120 in 24 seconds into a 5 gallon tank they would probably be faster if they were rebuilt as the cylinder wall in one of them shows they have had plenty of use. I would go with viair if I had to replace them.

I have the dual pack 480s on the 83 and the dual pack 444s on the F150, I love VIAIR!!! They haven't let me down at all. The 444s are pretty much the same as the 480s but 100 bucks cheaper. VIAIR built them to help people save money on a great compressor.
