Air Cylinders ?

Yello people I'm new to the truck scene and i was just wondering if it is possible to use air cylinders on the front instead of bags ? as it seem like it would be a lot less work involved ?

yes you can.. im in the idea stage of doing it as well....as of less work..no...im finding out that it is more work to put them in, they are biger and take up more room,the body of it never changes so you have to work around that,as with a bag it gets smaller as the air leaves it...

True but i have quite a bit a room behind my wheels as im using a set with -40 offset im not going for the usa look as i call it im going euro style being from the uk and that

I'm doing it as it will make day to day driver a lot easier and at the moment i have hardly any give in the front suspension im not going to be having air on the back as im going to be running coilovers as im going to be drifting the truck

The only trouble i was having is finding air cylinders that are small enough ! as they all seem to be 9.5 inch when down that i can find witch is to long as mine sits at 7.5 inch as it is at the moment or am i measuring it wrong ?

Any help would be brilliant !

Oh and what problems have you had just so i know what i'm getting myself into ? as i thought it would be pretty straight forward

most of it is like you said they just dont fit..if i found one that would fit then it wasnt strong or psi wasnt there,tryed redoing the arms but that didnt work ether..maybe a canti would work but then its not set up for daily use...really not sure if you are going to get the ride height you are at and the cylinders to work together with out cuting in to something

I have done this before but it was on a S-10. I did the front and rear of one and it was wicked as could be. I also did it to the rear of 3 other trucks. Get a hold of and request a catalog for there air cylinders. Then start looking at there double wall cylinders. If my memory is correct(its been a long time, did them back in 2001) I used a 6in dia. that was 7 or 8 inches long. They have some many variations of these cylinders it will make you head spin.


Here is a video I found of the truck I did with air on the front and back. But this kid is like the 4th owner since the guy who had it done(I even tried to buy it in the past but they sold it before I could get the money together). This kid is not running enough air to make it work properly and he has just torn this truck up. Its different.

I put air cylinders one my wifes del sol or should i del slo....It rides ok but its def. not bags,actually it rides like sh*t...Its cool that it goes up and down but at full lift its quite uncomfortable I thought maybe puttin some accumulators on it but that has yet to be seen. Good luck with it venture tho.
