When you say 7 to 8 inch long is that when its fully closed ?

HAHA my brain started to hurt again...it remembered looking at that to many times before....LOL

Seeing that page jarred something in my memory. For example I used on the back of the S10's I used a DWC-125-10-1 Which means a double wall with cushion on both ends(inside it has cushion so the rod didn't make a noise with it bottomed or maxed out) 4inch bore the diameter of the cylinder and 10 inches of stroke with a large 7/8 male thread on the end. The top you can just make you own plate cause it will bolt on the top with 4 bolts. Now the ones I used on the front where DWC-125-4-1-V The first part is the same as above but the 4 is the stroke and 1 is the same about the thread on the end but the V stands for High temperature seals mainly cause it was in the engine compartment. So now the ones I used on the front would have a total length of 9.63 when collapsed and a length of 13.63 when full extended.

Lets also think about how much pressure you will need. When we first aired it up with 150psi on compressors the front would lock up but you could push on it and it would move. And that didn't work for what we had planned. So we went with compressed air and regulated it out to 200psi and then the front would lock up and not move. He could then raise the rear and the front(opposite corners) all the way up and then put air in the bottom ports and release the air out of the top ports and it would suck the wheel up and it could do a standing 3 wheel and also do the really cool thing in the back where the rear looks like it is broke...HAHA

It wasn't for everyone but boy was it cool to play with..... The original owner played with it one time (just gooffing off) and ended up putting it on its side...LOL that was a site to see......LOL

When you mounted them with that top plate did they have a way to pivot, or was the plate solid mounted to the truck?

I did have pics at one time. But since I did this back in 2002 the pics are MIA. The front was the most challenging part. On a S-10 you have a pocket the the spring mounts into, what I did was cut the top of the pocket out and built a new mount for the top of the cylinder. On top of the cylinder I made a plate that bolted on with heims joint. I also had to make new upper and lower control arms.

That\'s interesting reading.

I hated my air cylinders. Rode like shit and since they were \"hard mounted\" they started tearing the sheetmetal at the mounting holes. But it made the Civic low.

For all the work involved, I\'d just go juice and get a better ride.

2bob - Those rims are American as they come buddy. Baby moons were the thing back in the 50\'s and still are with hot rodders. Truck looks good.
