At one point i had found a guy that did this......and now that i want a little more out of the rear, i cant find it. Does anyone have any info on doing this...how to, pointers, good or bad? I am really interested if there is anything i need to do to make sure the rear end doesnt walk when i cut the mount. I dont want it to dog leg down the road when im done!!! any insight is appreciated....thanks!

I will try and explain a little better......there was a guy that had cut the front leaf perch off the frame and let it slide up around the frame, then re welded. I have the idea of that, i just wanted some insight on if there were any problems on the rear end shifting during this or if it should be welded in place prior to cuttin the mount off. Also, if i were to use a jack and push up on the rear end after cutting the mount, i would assume it would push the front mount up further, and i didnt know if this would affect anything? Just tryin to get some pointers or ideas! thanks

I'd just find an other leaf to add to the spring pack or a helper leaf and be done with it, no need to relocate a spring perch to raise the truck.

this is to lower the truck more......if you cut the front perch and slide it up on the frame....in return....lowering the frame to just above the leaf pack...you can gain an inch and keep your suspension.........just a thought im having

but the mazda leafs are under the frame not on the sides of the frame,cut and riseing would put it inside the frame..if you wanted to do all the work of moveing your leafs in some to rise it..why not bag it...theres many ways to get low and have good ride still..

I dont want to move the leafs to the inside....just move the mount. What this guy had done was cut the top out of the front leaf spring mount, making it 2 tab like pieces. Then he lowered the truck, or raised the rear end, puting the 2 tabs to either side of the frame, in return, raising the mounting location and lowering the truck. this gives about another 1-1 1/2" drop, without losing the ability of carrying weight like mono leafing does.

I've also thought about relocating the hangers higher, maybe flush with the frame to get that extra clearance since my static drop is maxed out which sucks cuz I can't tuck rear tires... I dnt see any problem with it since Hardbody relocate and shave off the excess from their hangers as one of the first drops down here since they almost touch ground with 3" blocks.

Never seen it done on a mazda though and I'm not too sure on it giving you a drop, its mainly done for clearance

This is where I first thought about using leaf spring shackles to lower the truck like you are talking about. Before I read this, I only thought about shackle modification as a lifting technique.

speedway motors has leaf spring sliders. so you could theoretically remove the rear shackle, weld or bolt in the sliders and gain all the room the shackle keeps you from gaining.
