Sorry for bringing a thread back from the dead lol but I will be dropping my truck this weekend and would rather give this a try instead of mono leaf with the main leaf and load leaf. If you have pictures of this method Dean, that would be awesome! Or if someone can clarify this method for me. I'm only uncertain on the flipping part. I'm not sure if you mean taking the main leaf and literally flip it so the arch is now facing the sky instead of the ground and then reassemble it until it flattens out or what? Any input or advice would be great thanks!

You are correct. Flip the main leaf so the arch is up. It will flatten when you pull the springs back together. Sorry, still no pictures. Dean

Not a problem man I just wasn't clear on what you met by flipping it I was pretty sure but not a 100% and I didn't want to screw it up So just to clarify I only flip the Main leaf and the others remain the same right? Thanks for the quick response Dean!

Correct, the others do not get flipped. Just make sure you clamp the springs BEFORE you loosen the center retaining bolt. Then remove the bolt while the clamps are in place. I use "C" clamps, at least two, one on each side of the center bolt. Then once you remove the center bolt, put the all thread in the hole in place of the original bolt. Put large flat washers, and nuts on the all thread, and hand tighten them against the leaf springs. You should have a piece of all thread at least 18" to 2' long, longer won't hurt either, and center it so you have close to equal amounts on either side of the leaf springs. Once you've done that you can slowly remove the "C" clamps, then use two wrenches and remove the nuts. Once the tension is off the all thread, remove it, and do what you want with the leaf springs. This is a good time to clean and paint them. The original center bolts might not be any good, so if you cant reuse them, replace them with allen head bolts of the same diameter. Use new nuts and washers too. Hope this is easy to understand, and good luck. Just remember to use jack stands under the truck frame, and that the leaf springs are under a lot of pressure when you go to take the apart. Be safe, this can hurt, or even kill you if they fly apart and hit you. Dean

I plan on lowering my 1991 b2200 this way. Just wondering, what exact years of Volkswagen and Isuzu shocks would work for this application. I wanna make sure i buy the right ones.

Use 67 Bug rear shocks on the rear of your Mazda, and 84 Isuzu front shocks on the front of your Mazda.
