Where do you guys buy your kits from? I was wanting a bolt in that way I can do it myself and take it somewhere and have it welded in. I did have a shop say that they charge 70hr and he said they should be able to knock it out in 2-3 if I have the kit. So I think I would rather samve myself the 400-500 bucks and just have someone weld in my work.

Can't help with the "where to buy" part
But am curious if you have priced a actual welder or what...?
A certified welder going in and welding the notch in, even after its bolted in may still cost you well over half your estimate from shop to do entire job(welders here charge between $50-$90 an hour if you go to them, some are mobile but charge more)
Plus that would also have you taking bed off twice.

How did 2-3 hours at $70 and hour turn into $400-$500?

I didn't buy a kit. I got a piece of 3" pipe (1/4 thick) cut off for me. I then cut it in half and used each piece as my "C" notch.

I dont know if you've got a local steel supply shop near you but they should be able to hack a little piece of pipe off for you for really cheap.

Then all you need is to find someone who can weld it up for you.

I had the kit cost and unknowns factored into that 4-5.
I have friends that could weld it for me, but they didnt want to do the notch and im not sure when I would be able to get it to them. Could be months down the road. Ill keep researching

Maybe contact a place like Suicidedoors.com

I know most of their stuff is for the S10 but maybe they have a bolt on C notch for a Mazda, or would be willing to make you one for a reasonable price?

I know Michigan metal works will build anything you could want, you order it, they will design and build it
Now, exactly how much it would cost, that would be a good question

I mono-leafed it with the overload spring underneath it with 3" blocks and lowered shocks.

4 1/2" diameter steel tubing, 3 inch section cut in half to give 2 weld in c notches cost me less than $20, and about 2 hours time to cut the frame and weld in. And i didn't have to remove the bed... Very simple

Just my opinion, but shouldn't you plate the frame around and over the notch to reinforce it?

Main reason I ask is because the b2200 I am building a backhalf for right now was done same way,may have been a bigger pipe, and when it was welded in, it affected integrity of frame bad enough that the frame started to sag. Given the reason I am building a backhalf
