so ive decided to remove the top of my truck,
i know alot of people will say dont do it, and it seems to be one of those things where you either love it or hate it, i personally like it so im doing it,
my main concern is, what kind of added support do i need to put in place for the windshield? call me stupid but i dont want the windshield to start folding towards me while on the highway
but does it need extra support?
ive pretty much got everything else under control, but any suggestions or tips are always welcomed

thanks guys and gals

shorten it.. it will help with the flex..also could you add supports.. by where the mirrors go?

Not so much focus on the windshield.. but you will need to reinforce the back of the cab from flexing in.

first off i'll say DONT DO IT. but if you do decide to you can either roadsster it or convert it , which way are you thinkin of going ?

my bud did his s10 back in the day, didn't put any support in for the
windshield, left out going to panama for spring break, run into some
showers, and couldn't get his roof back on. so when he got back,
we took the cap off of the windshield, and took the doors off, cut a small
hole in the bottom of the pilar, and put some 1/2" rebar down the hole, and welded it to the inner fender and pilar, put the door, and cap back on, and no more prob's with the windshield. and deff like mullet said i would reinforce the cab as well. i am thinking of cutting mine and have the hard top, but i've heard good things and bad things about the kit from raticaltops... would like to just do it myself, but haven't come up with a way to seal it properly.

the only way i would ever do it.. is if i could build a carrison (sp?) top for it.. but i have enough mods to hold me over until then.

call me dumb, but what kinda top are you talkin about, i know of a hard top, rag top, targa top, sliding rag, and sunroof, could you tell me more?

well i wont be using the top, i have a daily driver so i can pretty much do whatever with this one now, i know i need to reinforce the cab and thats pretty simple,
i was thinking of roadster style cause it looks better i think,
i have a standard cab too so the body should be alittle easier to reinforce than an ex-cab would be, what exactly should i do for the reinforcement?
i was just going to use some boxed steel from end to end and corner to corner, then cover it with sheet metal and have a consol run from dash to the back of the cab
any ideas for the reinforcement would help alot

thanks for the quick replies everyone
