Back in the day 1988 I had a 1984 toy with a convertible top. It had no extra supports and I drove the crap out of it all over the south east with no problems. If its not your daily driver do the roadster it looks much nicer than the convertible.Weld in a cap along the back and go all the way and smooth the top of the doors ( no windows ) and even lay back the windsheild while your at it.So STOP THINKING ABOUT IT AND START CUTTING.

Actually you do not need to add any support anywhere. Mazda A pillars are really strong and there is no flex and no worry there. As for the rear...the cab corners are huge and extremely strong. You don't need to add any support anywhere. i had a Mazda that was a convertible with a walkthru and didn't add anything to it. Never had 1 single problem.

not trying to knock ya MTV (he he.. never noticed that before).. but i know the rear cab corners are very thin sheetmetal.. and just because you didn't have any problems in the past.. dosen't mean that it can't or won't happen. I say spend the extra couple bux and reinforce it.. so u know for sure that it won't happen. Its easier to over build then to go back and fix later.

i'll agree with MTV, i had awalkthru and vert for 8 years , no problems , with a 150db stereo in it that shook the shit outta it. saying that , if you have the time and skills why not just reinforce the back cab wall a bit . i wouldnt worry about the front .

well either way im gonna beef it up in the back a bit, im gonna mold the bed to the cab so i have to strengthen it up, thats not gonna happen right away though, first off lets get that roof off,
im starting the dismantling monday, then midnightmike is gonna help me cut the roof off soon i hope
and yes i fully intended on smoothing out everything, and no windows,

sweet take pics.. and remember its easier to grind or cut more off then it is to add more on

I also want to cut my roof off but I wanna make it a walk thru bed. How to I reinforce it then? I wanna make it so I can have seats in bed and stuff

yeah mullet thats what ive been telling myself too, so trust me, theres gonna be lots of grinding to even things out.

and im making mine a walk through too if all goes to plan,

today i started ripping the inside apart, so shortly if anyone needs tinted windows (sliding rear, and door windows) ill be getting rid of them, ill post em up in the proper section later

oh and so far by the looks of it ill be chopping the windshield by 4 inches, this should be a fun job,

now i just need to organize my garage enough to get the truck in there............
