Has any one tried to put a std cab bed on a extended cab truck. I have really been thinking about this a have found a bed to swap with. I know that it will not fix with stock supension, but i wondered if any of you have tried this mod. I f so can you please post pixs of it so I can decide if this is really what I want to do. Thanks

you can't put a std cab bed on a extended cab ... in order to do that you have to stretch the frame ... The extended cab IS how ever build on a standard cab frame . only difference is that there is a extended cab on the frame - You would have to back half the rear clip and make all new mounts for your bed to go - thus changing your wheel base as well . Its a nice mod its been done - but unless you have fabrication skills its not one for a "shade " tree to do on his own .But sense i don't know you i can't make that call . It is up to you if you have or think you have the skill to accomplish this.

just out of curiosity can you take a long bed frame and make that work?

no it alreay sits on the long bed frame. As far as i can tell mazda built two frames one for std cab shortbeds, and one for long beds and ext. cabs togther.

either way it isn't a bolt on swap

you have to shorten your driveshaft and move the axle forward

std cab bed and ext cab bed are pretty much the same length, just different wheel tub location and mostlikely different mounts

Std cab bed on a X cab truck. So you gotta lengthen the driveshaft buddy.

This is what I have come up with so far. drive shaft legthen, and relocate bed mounts to fit std. bed. Since the bed will be modified before installation I going to raise the bed floor , so I was going to have to fab. new bed mounts anyway. I have been studying the frame layouts , and since I'm not going to be useing the bed I don't think I will have to leghten the frame any. after that the rest is supension work to put the rear axle in the right spot. Please tell me if I have left anything out that I'm going to have to do .
