Ex.Cab bed to a Standard cab bed?

has anybody here done the swap on their extra cab trucks? reason being is i am on the search for a bed in good condition, nobody around here has one anywhere near nice but i took my regcab truck to the junk yard with a perfect bed on it and its still there, i have seen some trucks with this swap done on the web but i couldnt contact the builders. what is all involved? i realize the rearend will need to come back, are the bed mounts still in the same locations or will they need to be made up? any insight on this is much apreciated.

The only ppl I have seen using a std cab bed on an ext cab left the rear end where it is and just bobbed the front of the bed until it fit. Like Down2EarthDawg on here...

im lookin to move the rear end and keep the regcab bed in its original form....

you will have to extend the frame and get a new drive shaft if you keep the bed as is.
I like the way mine turned out I actually fits in my garage now

sorry to dig u an old thread but i got to seriously thinkin about this today...

i found a bed for my truck, no dents or rust...

on a standard cab bed, with the carrier bearing at the back of the cab, couldn't i just swap my rear driveline for a standard cab driveline?

i'm gonna build a 2x3 frame from firewall back and i could go ahead and do this...

just a few thoughts...

here is a redneck rendering of the reg. bed on my x cab. i used paint.exe and used inferno94s bed for mock up, then threw my paintjob on it. keep in mind, this was done in paint... so it may not be the best...

yeah, if you build a new frame it would be easy. just have to get a new driveshaft made. I think it would look better than a reg ex cab..

would i be able to run the reg cab d.shaft from the carrier bearing...

thats I dont know. measure one and see.
