shaving the tailgate

I was thinking of shaving the tailgate an my 84, I have aleady bought led lights so i can shave the tailights and i have a roll pan, but i am really riding the fence on if i should do away with the tailgate. After seeing slammed83's set up thats what I,m looking for. The bed will be cut out for nothes and the air and gas tank will be in there so the bed will be useless anyway right?

you could still do a sheetmetal bed with rhino lining if you want to still be able to use it. but i say shave everything. as soon as i get my tailgate fixed up it is getting welded shut.

I had my whole truck shaved, except my tailgate for the last 2 years...I kept it unshaved because I still planned on hauling crap around....lets just say I will be ordering a full skin very soon...SHAVE IT UP

i agree. once you start shaving it gets kinda addictive. i painted mine last summer and im plannin on stripping it down and doing more body mods this summer. hah. its hard to just stop. i say shave it all mane!

Im not muching on people shaving the tail lights on a pre 84 mazdas but thats my 2 cents.

The tailights give it that flow of the body lines and when you shave them it looks like its missing something.

How cool would it be to run sequential led's down that blank space on the rear fenders of that green 1st gen>BJ

shave that shit!!! did mine and i love it, no room to put in anything anyway. plus my trucks bagged so i can slam it and lift whatever i want in the box

Lets face it, if you can't open the tail gate and slide in a 4x8 sheet of wood what good is it.... shave it!

shave the gate and do caddy tails,or vertical LED strips.
