hmm i love the look of that.. i wonder since my cab is already a unibody(welded to the frame in a structural manor), and im goin to be running a cage with bars that go back to my rear susp area.if i could get awaywith this?

I would say no. Theres no way that you can reasonably pull off this mod and not get cracks or wrinkles. I would hate to have to even jack up a molded truck let alone put it on a hoist. Conventional framed trucks are not meant to have a solid body.

Build a stronger frame first, then toss the rubber bodymounts and solid weld it to the frame and then you could do it.

I still don't think that would work because a frame is designed to have a certain tolerance to flex. If you just renforce the flex the motion will just find the weakest point and go there. For a mazda I would say that you would have to cut the front end inner structure off and just run the outter fenders, etc. Weld the cab to the box and use the front end for movement.

Right the frame is designed tp flex...but you can build it stronger to alleviate a lot of the flex....use 2x4 1/4 wall.... And by getting rid of the bodymounts you will get rid of a lot of flex too..... It can be done, and it can be done right, bu you actually have to unibody the thing, like make the fram part of the body, and it is a lot of work that 99 percent of people do not do right.

nice thats what i was thinkin.. i already unibodied my cab and i think my sixpoint cage is gonna take what little flex i have in my frame outa it....im decided im gonna do this.. i got two beds ill just hack a filler outa the old bed..i sill gotta figuereout the bestway to unibody the bed...autocad here i come!

I hate autocad...I am a SOLIDWORKS guy myself...but hey just me. A cage would add stiffness but, the amount of points is not important, the way it is designed is....although you already know this I am sure. But I would not use the stock frame though.

i got the truck backhalved already im not building it again, Dont worry about the physics i got two years of a mechanical engineering degree under my belt. I am also gonna get my dads help on the cage cuz i want it to be NHRA legal and he has owne quite a few 10 seccond cars over the years.

Ok since i saw this picture i have bene on a mission ....im gonna do this for shure and ive pretty much figued out how...just for insperation id like to post a picture of a mini(sort of) thats done right...im prettyshure i saw one of these on american hotrod and it was deffinatly body on frame...Ok%20since%20i%20saw%20this%20picture%20i%20have%20bene%20on%20a%20mission%20....im%20gonna%20do%20this%20for%20shure%20and%20ive%20pretty%20much%20figued%20out%20how...just%20for%20isperation%20id%20like%20to%20post%20a%20picture%20of%20a%20mini(sort%20of)%20thats%20done%20right.. thinkin beadrolled 14 ga. shetmetal reinforcement...with minimal 1X1 bracing...as soon as i get back to work on the mazda ill snap some update photos i swear...

just think of the truck as a unibody .i have seen it done a couple of trucks from a friend that use to have a shop called ultimate customs he closed down now for a couple of years but those trucks are still around he did alot of re forsing and did alot of metal work so there was little body work neededand they didnt crack so if your willing to spend the time it can look great.as i recall one was a long box and the other a x cab the xcab did have the back of the lower cab removed for the support
