has anyone here chopped the top on their dawg? i completely gutted the 90 b2000 in my garage tonight and i am getting ready to pull the cab off of the frame to build a custom frame. and while i am at it, i want to chop to top no more than 2 inches. but don't know how. basically i want to chop the top about 1 3/4", bd to the rockers, with a firewall back custom frame, rx7 rear, with the pretty much stock 2.2, and rhd conversion. the only thing is that i have never done any of this so this will be the first. i am doing most of everything by myself and with the help of you guys. also if anyone knows where i can get the glass cut after i chop the top i would appreciate it. thanks.

you can lay the windseheld back drop the top down and make trim pieces of filler metal to get the angle on the front of the door and the A piller to line up....but a chop top is not the easiest mod to do....far from it....and it is really easy to mess it up more than make it work, so just be careful. on the door glass cut the chanel off the door and just drop it, and as for the back glass there should be enough room to move it down, but if not it is just flat tempered 5mm glass which any glass shop can cut up and get tempered if you can make them a pattern.

when ya cut the top off, the cab can change shape, in the shop I used to work in we would weld in bracing bars to maintain the original shape, I would do a stock glass top, layin the window back would look awesome!

thanks for the help bro. i don't plan on performing this mod until i do my bd, frame, etc.etc. this will probably be the last thing i will do.

i work with sheetmetal for a living but it is aluminum and we don't weld at work. but i have been forming metal for a while and know how to work it so that will help. i hope .
