double cab vs. single cab... are the beds the same?

Give or take a little, yea.

Something that confused me for a while was the Haynes manual which says that the ext. cab bed and the reg cab short box are the exact same and interchangeable. That is wrong, they are different there are 3 different beds in total, the ext. cab bed, the reg cab. long box bed and the reg cab short box bed. (click on the pic to see it better quality)

mazda only had 2 frames. one short and the other is a long one. the long one is used on the long bed, x-cab, and the double cab. mazda just kept shortening the bed to make up for the cab. they kept taking the length out of the bed infront of the wheel wells.

My checkmate bed cover came off a single cab and it was on my cab plus. And it was proper fitment.....but i never measured, so I dunno

single cab and cab plus are the same size but different wheel well placement. double cab is smaller.
