i hear you there brother.

the 3m stuff is a pretty damned good adhesive,
well im assuming the panel adhesive you guys are talking about
is that two part epoxy, i remember it was all the rage back in 2000 or 2001 atleast around here. its definitely a good solution if you dont have a welder or dont trust your tack welding skills.

That 3m stuff is cool my uncle has used it on projects in his shop. I used some steel weld stuff from autozone on my tailgate to shave the handle, since the last gate I welded warped prety bad(can't turn the heat down) its been intact for 5 months now.

Glue... interesting.
i'm in the middle of this project right this minute. i made fillers and i'm weldin 'er up. i'm a fan of the weld -n- metal finish...

if its done clean, like it is here - damn good job, theres no problem with the panel adhesive. bodyshops use it and GM has been using it on door hinges where they would usually bolt the door hinges to the cab its now glue.

interesting pennywise...i never knew that. but im with seth, the glue may work and all but the weld i put on mine is indeed reassuring. but if i didnt have access to a welder i would probably gluer on there. she looks real meesh. -bf

so no more defroster now since not much air can get in there haha

i also took plenty of pictures of shaving my door handles and gas tank which i welded pieces in but i'm sure that's all self explanitory.

Nice techie and nice finished product... but I was just asking myself the same thing... his defroster must really suck now.

actually plenty of air can still get in as behind the fenders there is a hole in the fire wall that is in line with getting air into the truck.

well my buddy in my apprenticeship class, true redneck, said that him and his buddys were 4wheelin in the bush and he decided to hang off the door of this chevy and thats when he noticed it was glued on. i used to work in a bodyshop and thats when i noticed. but body shops now use the glue because it is really strong and wont cause warpage so less work, less time, more money.
