i was watchin the oh so lame tricked out the other day and they were putting lexan in and took a bunch of packing tape or somethin like that and then sledged the window =o) i know that might not help but it would get rid of some aggrevation if you are replacing it lol... so just kidding by the way

sounds simple, but a pain in the ass. Guess it's better when it's warm out eh? I need to replace the windshield in my grey truck and take it from my red one.

you can also use piano wire and a window knife make sure that all and I do mean all the old urethane is removed from the frame around the truck and if there is any rust sand and paint it over then as mentioned a nice bead of urethane and also make sure where ever you are doing this it is warm or atleast room temperature or you will find that the urethane will not bond worth shit.

I've had to replace my window twice. The first time I tried it myself. Used a razor knife. It was a pain and I f'd up the trim taking it off. The next time I paid someone. It was worth every penny of the 150 I spent and that included the window. It think I spent more re-buying the trim the first time and I lost a Saturday.

I replace windshields at work and here are some basics that someone could use at home. I put my urethane on the window itself. I also use a primer on it though. as far as the urethane on the vehicle, it gets left on there. i may smooth it out and get rid of hangers, but it usually gets left on. I have a primer that gets applied to it and the new urethane bonds to it better than it would paint/metal. as far as how tall the bead is, look at your window frame and see how tall it is. I usually make my bead on the glass as tall as it as the frame is. Everyone has their own way, this is how I have done it for a couple years and it seems to work. Most importantly dont shut your doors hard for 12-24 hours or so. If you do, do it lightly and crack the windows to release the cabin pressure
