I see some really clean looking satin/flat black paint jobs from time to time, and Im curious if you can acheive the clean look with a rattle can? I cant quite afford to have my truck profesionally painted, and Im tired of red.

Thanks!

I painted mine with a rattle can (several dozen) & it turned out alright....make sure to prep the surface well by sanding, and then tack it off, and use a degreaser / cleanser...also I would suggest using some of the cans that have the adjustable nozzle
as you will get better coverage than just the ole regular nozzles...also good ventilation helps, with out it, you won't get a nice smooth coat....irreguardless, it won't be something that will be meant to last a lifetime, but should hold you over till you
get some fundage to pay for a sho-nuff paint job. Most of the satin / primer paint jobs that you see are shot with an actual spray gun & offer better and more even coverage than what you can get with any rattle can...

Are the panels on the truck straight? If not, sand paper and body filler.

For what several cans of shake and squirt is going to cost you, you could pick up a gallon of flat black fork lift paint and one of those $20 harbor freight spray guns.

Check your local York fork lift house for the paint. It comes in black and yellow. I have also seen a similar paint at the local tractor supply store.

Your only missing link is an air compressor.

this truck was painted with the york fork lift paint.

Do you not have to wet sand the flat color to get it smooth? that truck in the picutre looks great. and whats harbour freight? never heard of that brand up here.

You don't have a Harbor Freight? That sucks.

I plan on using John Deere Blitz Black. I've used it on my golf cart and had really good luck out of it.

Ive painted frocashmoney24's truck with flat black krylon and you cant tell it was done with a spray can. Just need to take it one panel at a time and make sure to spray it evenly

as elbine said, you can acheive the satin look with rattle cans if you only do one panel at a time. this way you get a nice even coverage on each panel and dont end up with the zebra stripes or light and dark spots and uneven coverage.

Take a look at my truck in the sig. That green and black was all done with rattle cans. It took me an entire weekend, but the whole paintjob only cost me $120 for paints and prep materials.
