im working on making my tailgate a swinger using the factory hinges mounted up on the passenger side tail light upright. the hinges are hidden behind the tailgate, and not visible unless you open the gate... will post pix when im done with the mod...

hope you dont plan on opening the gate all the way..... the stock hinges are going to limit what you can do with them...

do u have any more pics on how you setup the himges?

they r the stock hinges, correct?
did you do any modifying to them to get it to swing out so far?

i will get more pix, yes they are the stock hinges, "dont be a pussy cut your sh*t" was a phrase running thru my head when i did this, i picked up new nuts and bolts and quite a bit of washers for spacers, and i cut the tail gate itself where the hinges mount into and used the spacers to align it from there. will get some pictures up shortly for all to see...

bed on left, tail gate open on right

better pic of hinges mounted to bed

washers on inside on top hinge

lower hinge, tailgate side

inside of tailgate looking at hinges

3 washers on each bolt was put in between the inside of the tailgate and the hinge for alignment purposes. If you have any questions ask and i will try to answer them.

wasnt tryin to make a write up, but i found if you have the hinges positioned right you can keep them behind the tailgate, nice and hidden, and be able to open the gate... my gate does brush my tail light housing, but thats just some adjustment away...i think i need 2 more washers on the lower hinge on the inside of the gate between the gate and the hinge where i have 3 per bolt already... on this hinge...
