If you Z your frame, you can BD your bed and keep the 2wd floor while setting the 4wd sides on it.

If you are planning to BD your truck in the long run then this will work great for now. You just have to figure out how long of spacers you need between the frame and bed. If you are not planning on ever BDing your truck then you should step into the nearest bathroom and look at yourself in the mirror and ask "What am I really doing with my truck" . Then proceed to BD your truck. -ED

thats my plan for now. i'm not gonna body drop it just yet cause i dont want to worry about spacers and every thing but i'm just going to put the 4x4 sides on the 2wd bed. i'll body drop it later when i figure out exactly what i want to do with the truck. it will happen i just dont know when.

ok so i got the bed apart today and i had a few questions. since this is my daily driver i am still planning on driving it while i continue to work on the bed. so my question is is it legal to drive with out a bed? do you need fenders or anything covering the wheels?

i'll have picture of the progress as soon as i get a working camera.

It depends on the laws in your area, I ran mine with no bed for about a month here in California, no problems except I had to run mud flaps and zip tie the taillights on it. In some areas you have to have fenders.

i heard i need fenders and i assume i'll need mud flaps. i'm planning on zip tying my lights and license plate to my bumper.

ive been running with no bed for the last couple weeks, in washington you are required to have one or a combination of any of the following: fenders, bed, mudflaps. you arent required to have all of them. i have just fenders mounted up over my rear tires and havent had any problems with jonny law yet... i deliver in marysville and the cops out there are usually not the nicest and so far they have left me completely alone. hooray for semi/trailer fenders. six robblees (name of the company) has steel fenders that you can pick up for like $50 a pair. i got mine in everett but i know they have several locations...

i'll probably just make my own fenders out of some sheet metal i have that or i'll get some mud flaps from work and run those.
