i cant agree more with what you just said. i would rather wait another year to drive my truck an have it perfect than driving something that is ready to fall apart.

Just take your time on sheet metal. Allow plenty of time for cooling between welds. Its easy to warp the piss out of a body panel with heat.

I've been welding for about 7 years now and i totally agree with this statement. I see so many people say "just weld the crap up man, stop being a girl" or something to that effect. Either way, yes i can weld sheet metal with flux core wire, but it has to be new sheet metal, or really good condition (no rust pits, etc) for me to be able to do it and have minimal chipping and sanding. Is it way easier to do with gas, YES. Can it be done without gas, YES. Turn the wire speed way down, and the heat down a little and glue it all together. but like somebody else already said, take your time and it will turn out good. if you don't take your time you'll burn holes in everything or it will crack a month down the road. but don't let this scare you... get some sheet metal and practice with that before you weld on your truck. dont just say you cant do it without giving it a shot....

hope this helps,

matt
