ok. i dont know jack shit about this stuff. so far i have a JVC kd-sx780 headunit. and i looked and found pioneer speakers already installed from when i bought it. want to get a sub because i need some thump with my music but theres not much room at all behind my seats. what should i do about a sub/box, and do i need an amp? also, should i change out the pioneer speakers to something else? theres only 2 stock speakers in the truck. is that right?

thanks

oh yea and if it helps, the head unit is '50 x 4' watts im pretty sure

There can possibly be 4 speakers, 2 in the dash and 2 in the pillars behind ur head. As for the sub box, you will probably have to make something slim behind your seat. Your radio will be fine, you just need an amp hook up kit that includes a power wire w/ inline fuse, ground, and remote wire. You will also need some rca's.. and from there its up to you. If your not looking for anything too fancy you can get the kit from wal mart.

i agree, but fancy or not, wire is wire, i have been in the audio industry for almost 10 years now, and wether it comes from wal mart, or stinger or anyone for that matter, it is the same, i dont care what anyone says, now rca cables are a different story but power wire doenst make a difference, most wal marts sella 4 gauge kit with rca cables power ground remote fuse etc for about $20 as far as the sub situation goes you definatley need an amp i would recomend the kicker L7 8" sub, sealed box only needs 1 cubic foot and it will pound i have one in my blazer and you would swear it was two twelves, you can find them for around 100-150 at most kicker retailers, or search ebay i got both of mine for $50 each on there, hope that helps you a little bit

I just wanted to give him his options.. i could care less where he gets his wires from.. just telling him what he needed. I worked at Circuit City in the install bay for 3 years.. so i'm gonna have to disagree with you.. not because of quality.. but because of size. The Wal Mart kit is only 10 feet.. so standard cab trucks its ok.. in ur caddy.. it won't work.

true true, i didnt realize that wal mart had a 10 ft kit, the ones around here are 20 ft, no big deal it is still a valid point, not trying to argue or be a dick, so once again contrary to popular belief, size does matter ,lol,

if you want that stuff installed and a custom box built . my friend dwn here can build it . he has a work shop in the basement any power tool you could think of to build sub enclosures . He's real good at installations and his boxes are real good quality made. let me know and i'll hook you up with a day and time and we'll get-er- dun.

There is enough room between the seats to make a fiberglass sub box//center consol. Heh, as soon as i get some bucket seats thats what i'm doing. It isn't difficult to squeze a cube of airspace out of there... as long as your arn't plannin on running gobs and gobs of base, 1 cu foot is enough for most single drivers. It'll be another 2 or 3 weeks till i get to it, but i'll let ya know how it works out.

you don't need to put speakers in the rear either, only up front. When you go to a concert the band plays from infront of you, not behind you... with properly set up fronts, there is no need for rears.
