Hey, I just picked up a 93 Mazda B2200 pick-up.

I'm trying to install a CD player but I'm having some troubles. On the back of the head unit I have a yellow power, red acc., a black ground wire, and a blue power antenna wire. On the trucks wires I have Blue/White, Blue/Yellow, Blue/Red, Blue/White with a red stripe, Red/Black. The I have a red and a black wire that come out from the dash also. I have a black one that comes out from under the carpet and I'm pretty sure thats ground.

My problem is I don't know which wires to splice to what. Any advice would be very helpful.

Thanks,
Jake

i think someone put up a sticky about what wires are what, but if someone " re wired " your truck it wont work anyway, the easiest thing to do is this

go to sears, and get a multi meter ( about $25 ) then you can return it when your done lol.
ground the black lead of the meter somehwere, usually in the ignition hole works for me,
then start testing wires, when you find one that reads 12 volts, that will be your memory ( keep the truck off at this point )
you can get ground anywhere, pull the carpet back a little to see if that black wire is actually ground, if it is great, use it, if not you can even make your own, sand down a small spot in the metal near the radio, and use a self taping screw and a star washer, put a small ring terminal on the end of the ground wire and screw it into your metal, now ground and memory are taken care of.
next turn the ignition on, you now have a new ground so you can use that for the multi meter, start testing wires, when you get another one that reads 12 volts, turn the ignition off. it should go to no voltage, if it does that, then you have found your power wire, you may want to put a small in line fuse on that wire, but not a necesity

now to test speakers, general rule of thumb is that the lighter wire will be positive and the darker wire will be negative, but dont quote me, i dont know if your truck has been tampered with. you can do one of two ways, one is pull the speakers and look at the wires on them, if they are factory wires and the factory wires are still in the dash, you can just match them that way, if not heres what you do

get a 9 volt battery ( or a cordless drill battery, 9 volt just sends less of a jolt to your speakers ). your speaker wires will most likely be paired together so look for wires in pairs, then you can strip those wires and touch them to the - and + sides of the battery, make sure its kind of quite so you can hear the speaker pop. if you hear the speker pop you know you have the right wires

hope that helps a little

sorry about the book

good luck

Well, I found a test light around the house and checked all the wires. Nothing came up with any power. I hardwired it myself and it works fine now.

The weird thing is, the previous owner had a cd player in it, wire to those exact wires that i couldnt get power from.

HMMM?

lol these trucks suck for wiring. My Isuzu is even worse,I have to have my deck hardwired to the battery, and I even have the proper adaptor harness.

oh,for installing my deck in the mazda,I ran my constant power (red I think) right to the battery, and wired the 12v (yellow...or the other way around, whichever is which) to the harness, and I have a bolt behind the radio which is the factory ground,so I've grounded it there. I also have the adaptor harness and just matched all the wires together for the speakers. Quite simple really.

Have you ever installed a deck before?

yellow is always going to be your constant, red the ignition (on/off) wire, and black the ground. just hook up a test light and make sure it is grounded good. check all the wires with the ignition off. if the light comes on you just found your constant power. then turn the ignition to the on position and do the same. when the light comes on you just found the ignition (on/off) wire. and you can always redo the ground if you want. then the easiest way to find out the speaker wires is to pull one speaker out and see what the wires look like that are hooked up to it. this will work unless they have been spliced somewhere. if the right speaker has blue/white on positive side of the speaker than that will wire into you head unit as needed, and so on and so forth.

hope this helps.

No I've never installed one like this without a harness before.

Well, I found a wire that was hot at all time and gave that to my memory wire, and another which was power on turn key and that one goes to my power. The ground is fine. I got everything working now. I just gotta wire my rear speakers and get small boxes for them and run my power wire to my amp and I'm good.

Thanks for all the help.

cool man. anytime. what kind of speakers and amp(s)?
