I agree with the Fantom. It sounds like (1) a short in one of the wires,(2)Ur amp and speakers are overloading the ACC fuse,or(3) something isnt grounding as it should.Straight wire the radio to the battery with a 20 amp fuse iwred in and see if it works.BJ

Also wire up a 30 amp relay for your acc wire. Then it would draw enough off of the acc wire to blow that fuse either and your deck will still turn on and off with the key.

Its not the fuse for the radio thats blowing, its the taillight and the fuse for the guage cluster thats blowing. i can turn the deck completely off, try to put a fuse in for the taillights, and itll blow. I just cant understand how a deck n taillights are related. its going to the stereo shop tommorow, im sick of this headache...lol.

Did you hook up the illumination wire? Or did you hook/splice/probe any other wires that might be hooked into the light system? If you hooked up the illumination wire to your dimmer switch, that would probably blow the fuse. Would have to see it to help out more.

One other thing to try is to unplug the head unit and see if your lights fuse blows. If it still does you know that its in the wiring side. The unhook all conections that you have made , taping up any points that you had touched. Still check for pinched wires, rub throughs, etc. Then see if your fuse blows. If it does then it might not be related to your radio (even though chances are it is).

I would wire your radio right to your ignition system, and just add inline fuses where necessary. That way you know that it won't affect any of the other systems.

lol,I was going to throw my 2 cents in,but everyone has alreayd said I was was going to say,but my suggestion is to still hammer someone in the head. Good stress release.

I dont even remember how I wired up my deck in my truck. I dont have a stereo in it right now though.

check the red/black wire from the truck and make sure its a ground. I had a friend who wired thier dodge up with the black ground to the black/red of the truck and it was blowing fuses like you said. If the red/black is the illumination/dimming wire it'll blow the fuse with the radio on or off. I would suggest hooking the black ground from the radio straight to a metal ground on the truck. And leave the black/red unhooked and see if it still blows the fuse.

Just my 2 cents worth

^^bingo. i thought because the wire had black that it would be a ground. like you said its an illumination wire. apparently these trucks dont come with a ground. sweet. everythings perfect now, thanks err-body

yeah, there's no ground wire in the harness. If I remember correctly, there is a 10mm bolt on a bracket behind the radio, and I used that as my ground.

My Rodeo has stupid wiring. I got the adaptor harness for it,but it had no ground wire. It had the red and yellow power wires, but when I hooked up the yellow wire, the deck wouldn't work, but it would turn on my parking lights. I ended up having to use the red wire as my power wire and ground the deck right to the battery. So now, whenever I turn off the truck, the radio stays on,so I have to remember to manually shut it off every time. That's the only way we could get it to work.
