Pay day yesterday,and somehow managed to have a sizable chunk of cash in my account this week,so I decided to go out and get my tires today. Since I didn't wake up till 12:30 (give me a break,I worked till midnight and stayed up till 3am), I got to the tire shop at 1:30 to discover they close at noon. So,tires were out of the question today,so I figured I'd roll over to the stereo shop. They were open as usual and helped me out and got everything sorted out for my stereo needs.
We took measurements and they're making me a custom enclosure for a 10" sub to fit between/behind the seats. He said to give him a week to get the box made,so I said on Saturday I'll pick everything up. I'm going with a shallow mount 10" sub,but I don't know what brand,because the guy said he'd call up his suppliers and see what he could get me. I said I'm not picky,as long as it does the job and doesn't break the bank. He's looking into Audiobahn or Eclipse subs though. Amp wise, going with a 400w 4 channel amp so I can run the sub and my speakers off of it. He said the 400w is perfectly capable of running everything,but said it won't be working the sub to it's max potential,but that doesn't matter much to me since I listen to rock,so I don't need a thumping blow-the-windows-out-of-my-truck kind of bass.
Right now I'm running a Sony headunit,52x4w,with 4" 110w Pioneers in the dash and a pair of Pioneer 3-way 220w 6x9s in boxes behind the seats,and it sounds good as it is now,but there's always room for improvement.
So hopefully,if this week goes good,all my parts should show up from the states (H4 lights,chrome grille,new end caps & valance,clear signals) and my stereo will be done on Saturday.

The last system I had was in my Contour and that consisted of my current Sony deck with four Kenwood 280w 4-way 6x9s,and a 15" Kicker comp sub and a 1200w Power Acoustik amp. Needless to say,that thumped. At half volume,it drowned out my muffler-less 2.5" dual exhaust.

Sounds great Mike! Dont know if you remember / saw pic of box I did for daughters truck.. yours sounds like it will be similar. Got a 10" Fosgate P1 with a 300 ish watt amp. Gains are pretty low, yet it blends in very well with the rest of the system. I think you will be very happy with your setup!

Yes,I remember your pic,I quite like that box. I have a feeling it will be a very similar design. I won't know how it looks until I see the finished product.
Only downside isnow I'm going to have no storage space whatsoever in my truck,lol.

Amp is mounted on the passenger side, nothing on the driver side. Boxed in the bottom on both sides where is goes over the angled sheet metal. This left a nice area to set things on (storage). My daughter is probably not as tall as you... so with that said, there is enough room behind the drives seat for her backpack.

^ actually pretty good. Won't crack the windows, but can dafinately be heard outside the truck with the windows up.

dont waste your time with the adiobahn subs, the eclipse are way better. alpine type E or the R's are really nice also and they aren't too expensive either. as far as the 4ch on the subs and the highs im callin bs on that guy. your going to blow your highs if you turn the hpf on and if you turn the lpf on the subs will be useless. and if you have an amp that has selectable channel filters you'd save money going with 2 amps. get an alpine mrp-m450, it runs 400w rms at 2 ohms. it runs 150 on onlinecarstereo.com and for the highs the alpine mrp-f450 runs 70w rms at 4 ohms. both amps are pretty small and wont take up much room. i sell stereos for a living so im not BSing you. check out the site theres really good deals on there. not trying to diss your decision either just giving you my opinion
