you can also pull the switch and test the plug find the hot wire(when lights are on)
cut a small splice wire and insert it into the plug where the hot wire is and the dash light wire ....its an easy fix and it will last along time ....i did this in my sisters mazda and she is going on two years with no problems....keep in mind...you will NOT be able to dim the lights
