Why?

Frame = one solid conductive chunk of metal = great ground

First off, At no point EVER, Should you run SEPERATE grounds, Always have a single grounding point otherwise you can easily get voltage spikes and or feedback into the amp. Why do you think your battery has the same ground as almost everything else in the engine bay?? Also your ground shouldnt really be any longer than 12 inches (1 foot) The absolute maximum is 2 feet MAXIMUM!! Your ground should also usually be a larger gauge wire than your power, its rule of thumb, You ground actually sees alot more than you power believe it or not, And its dangerous to have it longer... And always have a fused power wire, At MOST 1 foot from the battery, Unless you want a burnt truck..

Agree with the always have a fuse, do not agree on the ground tho. the battery is the source for the ground. when you connect to the vehicle metal is it not just a long wire? Go out and disconnect your ground off the battery and try and use something electrical if you dont beleive me. I have been running grounds for amps back to the battery in my cars for some time, but I also compete in sound shows so it is the best for ME. Running back to the battery will get rid of the possiblility of noise and a ground loop, All of which you get judged on at a show. Do you need to do this? NO Is your answer of NEVER run it to the batteyr right? My opinion and experience no, but this is my opinion. OH and before I get thrashed on here. I have been an installer for 17 years, MECP certified, and campete nationally for the fun of it.

I too and MECP certified, and Im sorry but thats the stupidest thing I have ever hear, I have been installing now for about 8 years, Been around electronics my whole life, and am a computer tech. Running a ground that long to the battery is the dumbest thing I have ever heard.

ive always just grounded mine to the floor and i have never had any problems and the guy that taught me was mecp certified and we normally use a seperate wire from each amp then ground them to the same bolt and we have never had a problem

each to his own. Thats the way I do it personally and the way I was taught. It is all my opinion like I said.

never said you would have a problem, just stated that it wouldnt hurt anything to do it that way.

I grounded my amp to the back seat bracket behind the thin metal plate below the window. haven't had any issues.

SO! Today my amp was in! Car Toys called me up and I picked it up!

One thing that tiiiicks me off is that they just sent a NEW one?! WTF! Why could'nt they do that in the first place instead of making me wait 2 1/2 months?!

Well all in all, its in and I'm just happy to listen to my hard hitting bass again! WOOO!
