cones really dont matter, most cones in most subs are cardboard cuz it has very little significance, my friend a pair of mtx that looked like that and it got so much stress in it that the rubber around the cone just ripped apart

I've had the same MTX 4000's since 98 and I'm not planning on replacing them any time soon. They tend to sound tinny if you don't pollyfill them. Also the amps they come with in a bass package are usually a poor match. I think that's part of the reason they get a bad name.
